Meco was one of the world's busiest people in 1978. In that year he followed up his successful take on the George Lucas and John Williams universe of Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk with two disco reinventions: Wizard of Oz and Superman & Other Galactic Heroes. This LP does not maintain the fun magic all the way through, as did his disco soundtrack to the 1939 MGM film. The ''Main Title Theme'' is a fun take on the John Williams song as is ''The Flying Sequence and 'Can You read My Mind'.'' But Superman is not as universal as is Star Wars or The Wizard of Oz. That might be why the second side of this LP is not Superman at all but themes of four other ''galactic heroes'' including ''The Boy Wonder,'' ''The Caped Crusader,'' ''Lord of the Jungle,'' and ''The Amazing Amazon.'' Meco is stretching it a bit thin on this record. But it is fun and is a good record for film enthusiasts and kids. Produced again by Harold Wheeler, Superman & Other Galactic Heroes also includes the Cantina Band and the Voices of Metropolis. A tremendously fun novelty record.
