Manfred Schoof was not just a great trumpet player but also a great composer (one track here written by the bassist which is also good). There is a lot of structure and ideas in the five tracks but nothing appears ''too composed'' - there is framework and freedom within it. Eberhard Weber made similar great albums at the time. Aside from Schoof, the secret weapon of the band is Rainer Bruninghaus, who left his signature on all the albums he appeared on (Charlie Mariano, Volker Kriegel, Eiliff, Eberhard Weber and many more).
