Album Review

John Haight [sonic-recreation.com]

This nearly forgotten gem from 1976 is as close to a perfect album as you can get. Every track is hook-laden, groovy and melodic, with John Miles' strong vocal performances sealing the deal. Produced and engineered by Alan Parsons, Rebel has the Parsonics edge to it, but with a bit more muscle than evident on other albums he produced and engineered around that time. The album spawned the radio hit Highfly and the tour-de-force opener Music, but there is much on this album beyond these two excellent songs to entice even casual fans of mid-70s pop, rock and prog.
