The Hooters were one of the greatest bands of the '80s and certainly among the most thoughtful. 'Satellite' satirised televangelism even before the scandals began to emerge, while 'Karla With A K' must surely be the greatest traditionally-styled folk song about a hurricane ever recorded. The group's level of skilled instrumentation, blended styles and variety was almost unheard of among commercially viable '80s rock groups and it's little wonder that august figures such as Roger Waters were big fans. If Nervous Night showcases the new wave hits, then One Way Home showcases the unbridled talent. How this record never went beyond gold status will forever remain a mystery.
