Biography

David Qualey (born December 30, 1947 in Salem, Oregon) is an American guitarist and composer.

Qualey received his first guitar lessons at age eight. From 1962-1965, he played in a school band, with which he won the ''Battle of Bands'' contest from California State Fair. In 1966 he played in the folk group Fourth and Main, which was later renamed Aerial Landscape.

In May 1973, he came to Europe. He produced his first LP at Stockfish Records.

David Qualey is a representative of the so-called fingerstyle. The most famous example piece is called ''Santa Cruz''. In his book, Only For Guitar, find other guitar pieces such as ''Opus 20''. As a contemporary composer of classical guitar his compositions are accepted in German music schools and conservatoires and taught as music for classical guitar. They are suitable for more advanced guitarists.

''A Winter's Solstice'', a collaboration with other musicians, was Grammy nominated and awarded with the ''Gold Record''. [last.fm]
