Album Review

Paul Clarke [allmusic.com]

In a way this LP is lyrically and musically similar to Year of the Cat, as with all of Al's lyrics the songs paint a picture and tell a story, and make you think, rather than just leave your head as soon as they are sung. The opening track starts off slow and builds majestically, other favourites are Red Toupee, Josephine Baker and Where Are They Now. Overall a vastly underrated album from the superb Al Stewart.
